Gwen Waugh

The funeral will take place at 10.45amThursday 11th June,  in St. John's Church, Greenside, Ryton, Tyne and Wear, NE40 4AA.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the sad passing of Gwen Waugh. Gwen was one of our older stalwart judges and she will be sadly missed. She was always 'brutally honest' when asked for her opinion and always up for a laugh. We will miss you!!

So sorry to hear the sad news that Gwen has died today the 5th June in Hospital. I will miss our telephone conversation, Gwen liked to keep in touch with news of the shows and who I had been chatting to on the day.

Gwen will be missed by so many people especially her family and 9 p.m will never be the same again for me as that was the time that I would telephone her each evening.

Gwen will be happy once again with her beloved husband Raymond.

I send my condolences to her family.

It is with great sadness that I heard this morning (5th June) that Gwen Waugh had passed away during the night. after a week in hospital.   I first met Gwen when I joined the Northern Counties Cat Club Committee twenty years ago, by which time she was one of the matriarchs of the Club and not shy to make her voice heard.   She had joined the Club in 1976 and worked her way through show management,  stewarding and finally becoming a Persian judge. Although deteriorating health prevented her from attending shows over the past couple of years, she never lost interest in the happenings of the cat world .   Apart from her beloved Persians, she was an avid Newcastle United fan, and enjoyed the odd day at the races too.

On a personal note,  I shall miss the bantering relationship we had developed, and I am very glad I was able to say goodbye to her yesterday.    May I, on behalf of myself and of the Northern Counties Cat Club,  send our condolences to Gwen's family at this sad time.   Rest in peace Gwen.

I am so sorry to Hear of Gwen's passing I will miss being grabbed by the hand at cat shows and being called 'girl' as it is many a year since I have been a girl but she had a terrific memory for past cat's and past show's she had a wicked wit, never failed to make me laugh and God help you if you did something she didn't like but they broke the mould when they made Gwen I suppose she is ordering 'him upstairs about now' God bless Gwen shows will never seem quite the same

We were sorry to receive the sad news this morning that Gwen had passed away in hospital. Her health had not been good in recent years but she still liked a bit of banter and fun. We always spoke on a Wednesday and Sunday night for an hour putting the world to right and of course the Cat Fancy.

She enjoyed judging in the Persian section and over the years I often stewarded for her at the shows. With Gwen what you saw was what you got - a spade was a spade! She was right and everybody was wrong! I will remember the good times and there were lots. Now reunited with Raymond who she missed terribly. The end of an era spanning almost 30 years.

We send our condolences to her family.

Rest in peace Gwen we will miss you.

I was very sorry to hear the news of Gwen’s passing on Friday 5th June.

I first met Gwen in 1982 when I ran the Teesside Cat Club’s 3rd Championship Show. A very honest and forthright lady with a wicked sense of humour which we both enjoyed for 30 years. Don’t forget your Pencil Gwen!

Rest in Peace Gwen and my sincere condolences to her family.
